Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra presents Vicente Gomez Concierto Flamenco

The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra premieres Concierto Flamenco, composed by legendary guitarist Vicente Gomez.  World class artist Virginia Luque performs the concerto, written by Maestro Gomez in 1953, but never fully orchestrated. The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, led by Music Director Dorothy Savitch, premieres the concerto with an original orchestration by Patrick Russ, following Maestro Gomez’s notes.

The November 18 concert at the Brooklyn Museum opens with Bernstein’s brilliant and witty Candide Overture. Three superb Conservatory students, Mira Mandayam, Lou Couaillier, and Peter Corwin, winners of BKCM’s Suzuki Concerto Competition, will perform with the orchestra as well. The first half ends with Smetana’s rapturous orchestral tone poem, The Moldau.  The second half of the evening’s concert feature’s the Vicente Gomez Concierto Flamenco.
