Harumi Ori | Mesh Collage Workshop
We’re so excited to be hosting a day of workshops with our currently exhibiting artist, Harumi Ori. There will be two workshop options (12pm – 1pm and 2pm -3pm).
Harumi’s work for “I am Here” (on display until June 30) showcases the Brooklyn-based artist’s trademark fluorescent orange construction mesh from which she recreates ephemeral moments from everyday life captured on her camera, turning moments we’d consider ordinary into moments of wonder.
Harumi, who is also an art educator with two decades of experience, will be hosting two workshops on Sunday, June 23, teaching visitors the craft mesh sculptures and offering participants the chance to make their own piece of Harumi Ori-style art.
In this all-ages workshop, you’ll learn a simplified version of Harumi’s mesh sculpting method using zip-ties. At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to hang their work in the gallery alongside Harumi’s pieces, creating a community-style mesh collage. “I am Here” is Ori’s expression of appreciation for highlighting the truth in any moment, however ordinary.
